Doorways are always interesting to photograph or paint because, despite the fact that every building has at least one door, and we see hundreds of them every day, they still manage to carry a sort of mystery about them that's hard to accurately capture or explain. Some, of course, are unremarkable, but many carry stories and deceptively intricate details that are simply overlooked by passersby, too caught up in the day to day hustle and bustle to take a second they do not have to glance at a door or wall that they've seen every day for years. And that I would argue is a shame, because when we take a second to just relax and observe the world around us, we may just find something beautiful.
